The STEP™ Literacy Assessment Visualizer was developed for the University of Chicago's Urban Education Institute (UEI).

The Visualizer faciliates teachers in exploring reading behavior patterns of individual students or group of students in a class, grade or school. In addition, teachers can explore reading behavior patterns of a group of students receiving specific literacy support services (e.g. reading recovery) or students sharing characteristics such as ethnicity, gender and/or social economic status.

Inquirium developed the original STEP Literacy Assessment Visualizer between 2001-2003. From 2007-2009, we created a new web-based version. Since then, we have been working with UEI on an ongoing basis to enhance and improve the tool, including an update in 2011.
