The Spring 2004 issue of The Intel Innovator interviews Inquirium Director Matt Brown.
The Spring 2004 issue of The Intel Innovator contains an Ask the Expert interview with Inquirium Director Matt Brown. In the interview, Matt discusses the value of online learning tools from his perspective as both a designer and a classroom teacher.
Inquirium collaborated with Intel in the design of interactive thinking tools for its Web Tools initiative. Most recently, Inquirium developed Prove It, a web-based software tool that helps students construct and analyze arguments. Prove It provides a visual interface for students to link claims with supporting and disconfirming evidence, and for rating the quality of claims, evidence, and arguments.
Inquirium designers also participated in Intel's Web Tools Forum, a gathering of educators dedicated to envisioning the next generation of interactive thinking tools, and have previously developed another of Intel's Web Tools, Seeing Reason, a tool for creating and critiquing causal maps.
Prove It is slated for release in Fall 2004. It will be featured online, along with Seeing Reason, at Intel's Innovation in Education website: http://www.intel.com/education/tools/
Updates (12/2005): The interview with Inquirium's Matt Brown can now be found at http://www.intel.com/education/tools/Brown.htm. Prove-it was relased in June 2005 under the new name Showing Evidence.
