§ Congratulations Huskies!

UW takes its first women’s volleyball title, sweeping Nebraska. Way to go Huskies!

§ Opera

I guess I missed the announcement that the Opera web browser is now a free download. With Firefox, that makes two great cross-platform alternatives.

§ Wikipedia Knows Its Science

So says Nature.

The free online resource Wikipedia is about as accurate on science as the Encyclopedia Britannica, a study shows.

§ Our School Reviews

Kevin Drum has a short review of Our School. If you’re looking for first hand accounts of charter schools, it seems to fit the bill.

It’s the story of Downtown College Prep, a charter school that started up in San Jose five years ago with the specific mission of attracting kids who were getting lousy grades and putting them on track for college careers. DCP’s goal was for every one of its students to go on to a four-year college.

In addition to Kevin’s comments, there’s another short review here, the author’s blog, and, of course, Amazon reviews.
